Frequently  asked questions 

  • How can I start the course?
    First, you sign up for a free trial lesson and get to know your tutor. Then, if you are happy with the teacher and the trial, you can start the course by purchasing a lesson package. We provide you with a booking code, and you can arrange the appointments via the online scheduling on our website.
  • Do I need to purchase a package in order to take lessons?
    No. You can also book your lessons individually and spontaneously without a package. However, you won't enjoy a discount, but it guarantees 100 % flexibility. Lesson packages have a specific validity, while you have no restriction with single-booked lessons.
  • How do I find my tutor?
    We'll find them for you! With the first essential information from the demo form, we match you with a free and suitable tutor. We consider  mutual availability third languages of student and teacher  your aims and the tutor's expertise regarding them  personal matters  So, the more we know about you, your preferences and your personality, the better we can match you with a tutor. However, the demo lesson is also the moment to see if the chemistry between you is right. You are free to have several trials until you have found the perfect tutor. 
  • How can I book a lesson?
    Please go to "Book Lessons" on our website, select your appointment type and select your teacher. After setting/confirming the time zone, you'll see their calendar, and you can choose your appointment time. Follow the instructions and make sure to "pay with your credits" by applying your code at the checkout. The lessons will be reduced from your package.  
  • How can I cancel or reschedule a lesson?
    Generally, you can cancel or reschedule a booked lesson up to 12 hours before it starts. You can do so by following the buttons "cancel lesson" / "reschedule lesson" in the confirmation email you received after your booking or in written form via email at least 12 hours before the lesson starts. In addition, if you have created an account on our website, you can easily change appointments after you've logged in.
  • Will I be charged for or canceled or rescheduled lesson?
    No - as long as you change your appointment at least 12 hours in advance. For any other cancellation or postponement request, we will charge the lesson as a completed lesson.
  • Can I use my credits for different language courses?
    Certainly! You may use your language lesson package for different languages at the same time or change from one language to another, if you wish to do so. If you start a new language course, we will offer you another free demo lesson so that you can meet your new teacher, who will prepare a tailor-made course for you.
  • What course material is used in the course?
    For each student, we create a unique mixture of course books from well-known language course publishers and materials for efficient vocabulary and grammar learning combined with multimedia exercises from various sources. You can agree with your tutor about a book you already have, or they will recommend some you could buy (preferably at your local bookstore). In addition, we'll provide a personal interactive course document based on your course plan..
  • Is there a period of validity for my language lesson package?
    Yes. All milengua course packages expire after the number of lessons in the package (10, 20, 60) x 10 days, i.e. 100, 200 or 600 days. Then the package will be treated as completed. In exceptional cases, we can extend the expiry date of packages, and we ask you to let your tutor and the management know in advance. Then, we'll arrange a new and realistic validity.
  • Can I share my package with my partner/colleague/family?
    In general, milengua’s services are non-transferable. The purchase of a lesson package is bound to one (legal) person. Nevertheless, if you are interested in sharing a package, individual agreements can be made. Normally shared packages should at least contain 50 lessons. Please contact us for more information.
  • What technical requirements do I need for the course?
    Almost none. You will need a computer or a mobile device and a stable internet connection. We recommend using wired internet to ensure the connection works fine. We communicate via simple, free tools, for example, video chat via Skype or Google Hangouts or on request, via Google duo, FaceTime or What's App. In order to access the course material, your interactive course documents and to communicate with the tutor, having a Google account is a great advantage, but not essential.   • Do I need a webcam?
    The use of a webcam is optional for the student. If you don't feel comfortable using a camera during the lesson it's not necessary. But it might help you to see your teacher as you'll have an additional visual input that improves the learning process. Using the camera is beneficial when doing role-plays or pronunciation practise. But depending your individual agreement with your personal tutor you decide in which way you'll use the camera - or not.
  • Can I use my mobile for the lessons?
    Generally, yes. For the online voice or video call you can use your mobile with an application like Skype, WhatsApp, telegramm (and many more.) As we use an interactive document to take notes as well as PDFs during the lesson, we highly recommend using computer, laptop or tablet in addition to your mobile device in order to have the course material at hand.
  • How much does the course cost?
    Please check our prices in our online shop. They depend on the course type and duration of classes. Please remember, the more lesson you purchase, the lower the price per lesson.
  • How can I pay for the course?
    In the shop you can easily pay by credit card. On request, we also accept advance payment via bank transfer.
  • Do I have to pay for the provided course material?
    We will provide you with a wide range of materials without additional costs. However, if you and your tutor decide to work with a coursebook, you'll need to buy it by yourself. Furthermore, your tutor will provide you with a collaborative portfolio that you'll use in every class. In this way, it's available at any time for you to have your study program always at hand.
